Infection Prevention and Control Precautions

Infection prevention and control is everyone's responsibility. All staff, both clinical and non-clinical, are required to adhere to the Trust’s infection prevention and control policies and procedures and to make every effort to maintain high standards of infection control at all times thereby reducing the risk of Healthcare Associated Infections.

WHO five moments of Hand Hygiene

Hands should be cleaned according to the Five Moments of Hand Hygiene principle, as set out by the World Health Organisation (WHO)

  • Before patient contact
  • Before clean/aseptic task
  • After body fluid exposure risk
  • After patient contact
  • After contact with patient surroundings
