Infection Consults - how to access help

Microbiology & Infectious Diseases

During normal working hours:

Consult requests should be made via EPR.  Go to "Communicate", search pools for "Infection Advice" and select service (based on the location of the patient)

E-consult sent after 4pm may not be dealt with until the next working day. For urgent queries, Infection registrars can be contacted by bleep:

Note after 9pm, all calls to Micro/ID should be approved by Hospitals at night RMO (except needlesticks and transplant work ups)

Pharmacy

Between 8am and 9am contact pharmacy on 21502 or bleep 1884.

Between 9am and 5pm contact ward pharmacist or Medicine Information (21505).

Between 5pm and 7pm bleep the on-call pharmacist on 1884 for advice.

Between 7pm and 8am the on-call pharmacist can be contacted on their radiopage via switchboard.
