Embolisation

Post procedural antibiotics are not indicated for prostate, uterine or splenic embolisation.
Prostate Artery Embolisation
Preferred, including for penicillin allergy (non-severe or severe) or MRSA positive: gentamicin 3mg/kg iv
Uterine Artery Embolisation
NB: Use Uterine Artery Embolisation for Fibroids powerplan on EPR.
Preferred, including for penicillin allergy (non-severe): cefazolin iv (see dosing table below)

Splenic Embolisation
If less than 70% of spleen embolised: Antibiotic prophylaxis is not routinely required
Where approximately 70% or more of spleen embolised:
Preferred, including for penicillin allergy (non-severe): cefazolin iv (see dosing table below)
