If PE suspected in a pregnant patient, refer to Maternity Assessment Unit (Extension 20221)

If in hours or ambulatory management not appropriate, CTPA in the ED

Ambulatory management can be considered if PE suspected and all of the below:

Not pregnant
PESI score <3
Out of hours
Felt suitable for ambulatory management

If ambulatory follow-up is appropriate, refer to AAU:

Use this leaflet to guide treatment
Advise the patient to attend AAU at 8am
In EPR, click Communicate
In the To: section, type AAU and press Enter
Click Pool
Select "AAU"
Double click to select this as the address
(Right click to add to your address book for next time)
In the body of the message, include a brief summary of the patient's presentation
