National Shortage of Antimicrobial Agents used in Tuberculosis (TB) Treatment

The following antimicrobial medicines used to treat TB will be intermittently available until at least the end of 2025:

• Rifampicin tablets, injections and oral solutions
• Rifampicin combination tablets (Rifinah^®, Rifater^®)
• Pyrazinamide tablets

Due to the national shortage, Rifampicin will be reserved for TB. All uses of Rifampicin or Pyrazinamide must be on advice of Paediatric ID/Micro/ID.
